Stick it to ultra-conservative Republican billionaire Rich DeVos in this poll: DU It!
Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 04:19 PM by ddeclue
Rich DeVos, an ultra conservative Republican Amway billionaire and owner of the Orlando Magic has twisted arms in Orlando Florida and gotten the city and county to build him a new basketball arena costing a half billion dollars before interest and overall they are SUPPOSED to be building or renovating three venues: the Waterhouse Arena (I REFUSE to call it "Amway"), the empty and unused Citrus Bowl, and the performing arts center.

They of course passed this last year and were going to pay for it by leveraging everything to the hilt and we warned them that we would be screwed if the economy took a downturn but of course the Chamber and the business community run everything around here so they did it anyways.

Now the economy has tanked and tax revenues have dried up and their house of cards is collapsing so the first thing that gets screwed is the performing arts center, then the Citrus Bowl is next - Rich Devos' shiny expensive new arena goes untouched however.

Meanwhile parks hours are being cut back, bus service for the working poor is being cut back, and gov't services as a whole are being cut back all so a billionaire can get his welfare check in the form of a new basketball arena.

Today the Orlando Sentinel is asking the poll question: Should DeVos have to pay more for the arena?

HELL YES he should!

Please go to the poll and DU it to him!

PS: DeVos was the 2006 Republican candidate for Governor of Michigan and his wife the former GOP chair for Michigan and he screws Florida Democrats every chance he gets and meddles in our state
