There are many of us who would be perfectly glad to wreck Wall Street for 10 times less.

ps: Not literally kill ;)

3. Right on! I am beginning to wonder about the incomes of DUers...
That thread about the $500,000 blew my mind and really pissed me off. Anyone who could make that statement must not have the problems of the average person in this country.

I'm making less than I was 10 years ago and I have a better job now. I guess that's what happens when you go to school to better yourself.

8. I doubt I would actually "kill" for any job, but I'd be thrilled with a 50k job
right now. That would be 35%of what I made ten years ago and 50k more than what I'm making today.

9. Count me in.
And the thing is, people who work for 50k or less are probably working 100x harder than those making over 500K.

10. People need jobs. Good jobs.
The Repukes don't want to employ people, because they don't believe that the circulation of money starts with the lower and middle classes.

Supply side economics is a farce. We must have demand. Supplying something is no good if nobody has money to buy it.

But I don't think I'd enjoy the money if I had to kill someone for it.

23. As long as the commute does not include a certain highway
near us that is notorious for jams and accidents, I'd jump at it. At my age and with a measly SS check and unemployment check, it would be a huge jump up.

24. I'd kill for 50k
I've worked for more than 10 years towards that goal- and seeing people whine about 500k(or worse, that rant about inheriting a 4 mil + business) makes me wonder where all the money's been all these years- I must have missed out.

26. I'd do the job for any living wage
so long as it were the job I loved to do and I could do the job the way I knew it needed to be done. I'm tired of being a wage slave and won't work for an organization that values something other than my skills and commitment to doing the job I was hired for.

If I were an executive for any of these companies that have taken a nose dive, I'd forfeit my pay and walk away in shame without any bonus or severance package. But then I'm just a mindless liberal with no ethical standard.

Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 10:25 PM by vixengrl
Well, not kill :). But it's an income where you can put something away. You have breathing space. You can can make your bills without going, "I'm paid Friday, so phone bill's going to be mailed Thursday...." You can live a little on $50k.

The idea that a half a million dollar is not a lot of money doesn't strike true to people making something in the five figures. Doesn't to me. If I kept my current expenses, and was making (note my word choice)a half a million dollars a year, why, I'd be pretty well set in no time. Might even think about retiring in ten years or so and just enjoy my freedom.

Hell, I'll do brain surgery for $50K. Probably should only operate on Repukes until I know what I'm doing though. Not like anyone will notice if I fuck that up.
