1. The churches must maintain the mythology |
|
otherwise their whole business model falls apart. It's absolutely essential to their survival that they keep their adherents locked into ancient superstitions. We don't want those income streams drying up, do we?

3. I'm not sure what unaffiliated means |
|
Does that include atheists? Or is it religious, but unaffiliated with any particular organization?

8. I doubt that atheists are included... |
|
The title says it is comparing religious beliefs on evolution. I would imagine most atheists would opt out of a poll that had that stipulation attached.

10. It says "origins of human life" |
|
If they asked about "explains the origins of species", you'd get some religious types saying that all other animals evolved from a common ancestor, but that humans are the one special case.

7. I'm willing to bet that >90% of the US population don't know the definition of evolution |
|
Most people don't know what evolution is and criticize a straw man representation of it.
Most people don't know what a scientific theory is and how it differs from the conventional definition.
Many people have an irrational distrust of scientists and knowledge acquired by scientific research.
What most people think is evolution is actually 3 related but distinct concepts: abiogenesis, evolution, and speciation.

The RW fundies live off of those. They seem to thrive on keeping people ignorant of what you have pointed out.
