Dean will not be HHS secretary.
He's not post-partisan. Believe me when I say that I would love it were it to happen. But it won't.

1. was HRC post-partisan?
What does post partisan mean, anyway? Someone who was not part of the partisanship of the last dozen or so years? Daschle? BIDEN?

16. indeed....
"I'm sorry the rational folks among us feel bad because your party fucked the country six ways from Sunday, but let's set that aside for now. Why don't I bend over and spread my legs just to show there's no hard feelings, huh?"

THAT'S post-partisanship!

Because it's a good thing.

Speaking of "post-partisan," does it look post-partisan to anyone out there?

4. You know what is "post-partisan?" Professionalism.
Being able to do your job with people that you might not agree with on personal matters.

we follow many years of Republican rapine with a few years of Democratic "professionalism" (watch the discussion creep to the right!), followed by...?

25. Professionalism doesn't just define behavior ...
... it defines expectations too.

Meaning we expect better.

At least I do.

26. imagine this: you're in a really interesting book club
with a guy who insists on reading nothing but The Bridges of Madison County over and over, and who threatens to beat up those who want to read anything else. Is "expecting better" making nice with this fool, or is it, once the book is read and known to be trash, telling him to shut the fuck up and reading something worthwhile?

And no one will take him seriously or include him in any more functions.

Professionalism requires discipline too.

29. You don't really expect me to solve that in one post do you?
I don't have the answer to that and I won't pretend that I do.

All I know is that we should be raising the level of discourse and not putting up with anymore childish bullshit from the GOP or letting any of it pass without destroying it.

In a professional manner, of course.

30. I think the answer is easier than you seem to think it is.
One doesn't unilaterally disarm in the middle of a war.

35. I don't see how being professional is "disarming."
Unless you mean it the respectful type of "disarming" and not the "disarming" where you surrender all your defenses.

36. I don't think you understand what we're up against.
Eight years of Bush and people still envision this happy-dippy world in which the Republicans are jumping out of their skins to do their best by the American people? Dear god.

8. I agree although
sometimes Obama has been known to surprise. He needs someone who can work with and sway the Democrats from conservative districts/states and the few remaining moderate Republicans. Could Howard Dean do this? I am skeptical but I like him so much I would be willing to take the chance.
