Christina Romer on New Numbers Today
"These numbers, and the very real suffering of American workers they represent, reinforce the need for bold fiscal action. If we fail to act, we are likely to lose millions more jobs and the unemployment rate could reach double digits," said Council of Economic Advisers Chair Christina Romer. "

"Prompt, well-designed fiscal policy is necessary to stop the decline and heal the economy. The American people are counting on leadership from Washington to help the economy recover and lay the long-term foundation for long-term economic growth."

1. Yes, please cut the pork and get it rolling...
...and there is pork. Just dig deep, ask if this is a 'wish list item' and if so remove it. Get the meat of the deal out there, and get those 4 sane Republicans (too many?) to support the thing. After it hopefully saves the economy, those deeply Democratic items will be much easier to enact in a year or two. After the GOP has eaten their shit filled humble pie, we could probably bolt solar panels to Rush Limbaugh's Fat ass and a wind turbine to his head, thus harnessing the large surface area of his body and ample winds from his constantly flapping mouth!

2. Oh, and at this moment the Market is up
Makes sense? Is the market taking into account this horrible information may drive this stimulus through finally? I wish I had a dime for every time on of my colleagues sitting around me asked "why is the market up/down, it makes no sense"? That is why Wall Street should not set policy.
