Palin named her daughter after ESPN headquarters
This freaking woman gets weirder by the hour . . . .

http://www.bristolpress.com/articles/2009/02/05/news/doc498bb4147a9ec276410075.txt

BRISTOL — It’s a good thing ESPN didn’t set up shop in Old Lyme.

Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin disclosed this week that she named her daughter Bristol at least in part after the hometown of sports giant ESPN.

Palin told Esquire magazine there were three meanings behind her eldest daughter’s name.

The Alaskan governor said she once worked at a place called the Bristol Inn, and her husband grew up in Bristol Bay in southwest Alaska, a big salmon fishing spot.

But, she said, she also had in mind the Bristol, Conn., headquarters of the worldwide leader in sports.

“When I was in high school, my desire was to be a sportscaster,” Palin told the magazine. “ESPN was just kicking off, just getting off the ground, and I thought that’s what I was going to do in life, be one of the first woman sportscasters.”

“Until I learned that you’d have to move to Bristol, Connecticut. It was far away. So instead, I had a daughter and named her Bristol,” Palin said.

Mayor Art Ward said that it probably worked out for the best.

“You can’t see Russia from here,” Ward said.

2. She also said that if he were
to have a another baby and it was a boy, he would be named Zamboni.

She's been a nut case, it's just all spilling out now. I pray that they find something on her to kick her out.

3. And all along, I thought that she was named for
Big Pharma's Bristol-Myers Squibb...

That's certainly a relief, after all, who in their "Right" mind would name her baby after a drug company or perhaps any drug or least likely, a drug's effects anyway??

14. If that had been the case, she would have gone with "Squibb"
I think we can trust Palin to always go with the most bizarre option when faced with a choice...

8. How old is Bristol again??
ESPN has been around for 30 years. How can she think that she would be the first female sportscaster?? There were many before her in the early 80's before Bristol was even born. She is a dimwit.

18. Cockney rhyming slang - "Bristol City - Titty"
Truly. if a cockney talks about a woman's Bristols, he's talking about her breasts.

That's all I can think of when we hear about Bristol Palin.

19. The irony of this name selection is what it represents to the pro-choice movement
The irony of this is that back in the 1980s, Bristol, CT held a widely-watched referendum to make abortion illegal. The fundies introduced the local referendum to overturn Roe vs. Wade, choosing Bristol because it was a predominantly Catholic, blue-collar town thought to be anti-choice. The pro-choice groups mobilized and built momentum around the right to privacy and opposition to government interference in family decision-making. The referendum was solidly voted down by Bristol voters, setting back not just the local but the national anti-choice movement.

Go Bristol!

I always thought she named her after Bristol Bay. I suppose with the issues she's got going on with the Native villages out there now, she's changed her tune.
