Council temporarily bans hookah lounges
Council temporarily bans hookah lounges

By The Californian | Thursday, February 5, 2009 6:56 PM PST ∞

MENIFEE ---- It looks like there won't be a hookah lounge next to Super Target anytime soon.

In response to a request to open a hookah lounge in Menifee's flagship shopping mall, the Countryside Marketplace, the City Council unanimously approved a temporary urgency ordinance banning such businesses at its meeting Tuesday.

A hookah is a water pipe used for smoking tobacco and other products. It hails from the Middle East, where it is often used at social gatherings.

Over the last few years, hookah lounges have gained popularity in America.

1. A hookah lounge would be kinda fun.
People shouldn't be allowed to smoke tobacco in them, though.

3. Because the tobacco fumes would interfere with
my enjoyment of smoking.

But people shouldn't be allowed to swim in the water at them, though.

5. You really don't get my point?
Young'un, in my day nobody would actually put tobacco in a hookah. They were reserved for finer things.
