They are threatening to (and partially succeeding, actually) take the entire country into the little greedy, fearful, miserable, self-loathing hole in which they and only they appear to thrive.

7. It's been done. The War to End All Wars.
It worked about as well as the Wars on Drugs, Terror, Poverty.

But the OP was about a War on Republicans. Too late, the Republicans are waging a War on Democrats. 41 Senators are standing at the Gates of Thermopolae, holding off 59 Democrats with the threat of filibuster. And we're as puzzled as the Persians.

12. Yeah, I joined DU
about the time I was converting old vinyl to MP3. And somehow that named just popped out.

I didn't do anything during January, when we could change our names, so nothing new popped out.

10. One irony to your analogy, at least the Spartans,
were protecting Athens, (The Cradle of Democracy) even if as an afterthought, I see no such noble cause on the Republican front.

I see those 41 Republicans Senators as standing at the gates of Hades battling against a new leash law for Cerberus.

13. Republicans weren't at all puzzled when the situation was reversed.
They threatened to "Nuke" the filibuster if Democrats tried to use it ever. Democrats whimpered and slinked away and let Republicans do whatever they wished. The same thing is happening now even though Democrats supposedly have a substantial Majority. While I disagree to the very core of my being with Republican ideology, I have to respect that they continue to go to the mat for their beliefs. They stand up for what they believe while Democrats try to finesse everything and stand for nothing..

3. No way. It's like Jon Stewart said:
Whenever we declare "war" on something, we lose to it.

5. I'm game.... lock-n-load!!
The republic party needs to be declared a continuing criminal enterprise, as well as enemies of the state, and they should be shut down and banned from government service....

9. They have always been the greatest threat. It has ALWAYS been time for war on them.
(Well, since the '60s, anyway)

16. That comment is out of line
Wishing violence or death on someone is a Republican trait, not a Democratic one

19. How 'bout a "War on Greed"? That
will encompass all Repukes and (more than) a few Dems.

Better yet, how 'bout a "War on Abstractions"?

20. I have advocated this very premise since 2000...
...and since last year when I joined DU. Simply put, the republican party is NOT a political party anymore. It is a proven criminal organization which would be knocked out by existing RICO statutes.

Refer to my blog for several different scenarios and recommendations to actually following through and banning the republican party.

Ban the GOP Journal
