Taking on the Lies

Right now, we have the opportunity to reclaim our nation and make our economy work for everyone. It's up to us—because it's working family activists, together with the new leaders we elected in November, who can make sure the Employee Free Choice Act passes, which will restore workers' freedom to bargain for better health care, secure pensions and fair wages.

Corporations and CEOs will do anything in their power to keep workers from forming unions and bargaining for a better life. They intimidate, harass and even fire workers. Now their front groups are running a massive $200 million propaganda campaign of lies and distortion about the Employee Free Choice Act—and we have to counter them with truth. Help us spread the truth. Join me and contribute to the Turn Around America Fund today.

We don't have $200 million, but thankfully it’s much cheaper to spread the truth. With your help, we can run our messaging campaign—including television, radio and online ads—for a fraction of what our wealthy opponents are spending.

We need your help right now to set the record straight. CEOs and their corporate lobbyists are making wild, crazy-sounding claims about the Employee Free Choice Act—saying it’s the end of civilization, the start of Armageddon. We need to push back against them quickly and aggressively.

Contribute to the Turn Around America Fund today and help spread the truth about the Employee Free Choice Act: https://secure.ga6.org/08/turnaroundamericafund?source=ml

The simple fact is that the Employee Free Choice Act would level the playing field for corporate America and America’s workers, putting the freedom to choose a union back where it belongs—in the hands of workers. We know that whatever other economic recovery measures our country may need, we will not achieve balance and broadly shared prosperity unless we restore workers’ freedom to form unions and bargain for a better life.

It truly is up to us, working family activists, to make sure our economy is reshaped so it is based on family-supporting wages and productivity—not on speculation and Wall Street excess. Together, we can win this fight and create an economy that works for everyone.

In solidarity,

Marc Laitin
AFL-CIO, Online Mobilization Coordinator

P.S. Help us continue to fight back against the $200 million anti-worker corporate campaign and ensure that workers have the freedom to form a union and bargain for a better life. Contribute Today: https://secure.ga6.org/08/turnaroundamericafund?source=ml

What Big Business and Their Allies Are Saying About the Employee Free Choice Act

“We like driving the car and we're not going to give the steering wheel to anybody but us.”

—Lee Scott, Wal-Mart CEO, cited by Thomas Frank in the Wall Street Journal

“It’s dangerous for America; it’s dangerous to small business. And I think it’s a threat to one of the fundamentals of democracy.”

—John McCain

Corporate American is spending $200 million to fight the Employee Free Choice Act. We need your help to get the truth out about the Employee Free Choice Act.

1. Kick, kick, kick.
It's time to get it on and kick some ass.
We got a guy in the White House who is on the same page on most of the stuff we value most.

2. Agreed, but...
...you have to hand it to the Waltons. They have kept all that stock locked up in the family. Most capitalists are only too happy to sell people a piece of the action, and then freak out if and when shareholders actually try to exercise the voting power they paid for. The Waltons have ket pretty the entire corporation in their own hands. So if anyone has the right to drive their own car, its them.

Of course, that doesn't give them the right to run over children and do wheelies on the town green...
