Economic Security, the Elephant in the room |
|
For all the talk about the stimulus. I don't see where it addresses the major factor keeping millions of people from making major purchases today. Security that their current sources of income (JOB) will be secure for the next several years. That their employers, customers will not go bankrupt.
Tax cuts certainly won't fix that problem. I am not sure that much of what is in the stimulus bill would do any better. Long term government projects might. Maybe it's time to concider a 21st century Hoover Dam?

For a short time after WWII maybe. Not before and certainly not after.

4. In Soviet Union. For about 70 years. It was a crime not to work. |

Especially during Andropov times, police would check documents of those on the street during a workday to see why they are not at work.
