Senator Bob Corker Tennessee (R) - Opposes Bill - Economy Will Improve Anyways
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 07:16 PM by Median Democrat
On CNN, Bob Corker was asked by Candy Crowley what happens if the economy improves due the stimulus bill? Doesn't that put Republicans in permanent minority status? Corker replied that he thinks the bill is wrong, but he said regardless of whether or not the bill passes, we have economic cycles, thus the economy will improve anyways.

So, there you have it. The Republicans are pushing doing nothing as a response to the current economic crisis. Of course, if the economy will improve anyways, why push tax cuts that would widen the deficit?

Yup, the spineless media forgets to ask the follow-up question.

3. I swear I wish they would do nothing...
force the bill as is, and let the Republican's shut it down. Then they can all go home..or to Dubai..or wherever their keepers live.

6. Republicans Want To Have It Both Ways...
They say that the bill will not improve the economy due to spending, when we should be supporting tax cuts. However, if the economy improves, its not due to the bill they opposed, because the economy always will improve due to business cycles.

Its the whole, FDR's New Deal deepened the depression arguments that the main stream media loves to repeat. I guess it is only a matter of time before Republicans argue that Abraham Lincoln actually HURT the plight of African Americans by abolishing slavery.
