More banks have failed in the last 13 months, than in the previous 7 years.

http://www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/failed/banklist.html

Interestingly, no failures posted for the second half of 2004 and the years 2005 and 2006. Three in 2007. Then it looks like the stuff hits the fan.

Hmmm. Seems like failed banks are located disproportionately in GA and CA.

2. Thank you for posting.
Do you know when all the sub-prime crap started?

3. Signs of the crap hitting the fan early/mid 2006.
I won't even speculate of when the mortgage companies started with this type of loan. But it is certainly more than mortgage backed securities. Derivatives etc. have a part in the collapse of the investment industry.

4. I think it was the perfect shit storm.
Derivatives, sub-prime loans, falling dollar, so many things happening all at once and a new administration to take the blame.

Not to mention GOPers heading the regulatory agencies ignoring their duties.

That's a recipe for depression.

6. Feel free to add the link to any and all appropriate posts. This link needs
to be made readily accessible.

I fear that the list will be growing longer on a weekly basis.
