1. She didn't have the fillibuster shit to deal with. We don't even have all the
states sen's sitting. We need at least 2 pugs to break the fillibuster instead of just 1.

2. Comparing Apples and Oranges...
The two institution rules work much differently. Majority rules in the House, you need 60 to rule in the Senate.

That being said I am disappointed in them both.

9. Exactly... it just doesn't pass the smell test
Bush + Republican Majority = passing BS legislation through Congress regardless of what Dems think

Obama + Democratic Majority = concessions to the right wing

3. If the House bill had less silly stuff the GOP Senators wouldn't have seized on it.
And it's mathematically much hard to get things through the Senate - the Senate result will REQUIRE repub. votes.

5. House rules make it far easier for her to do so
Pelosi has far more power to get anything she wants passed as long as she holds all the Democrats. Reid needs 60 Senators - that is the Senate rules whether we like it or not.

6. I think the House bill should have focused on stimulus and waited for the budget for much of it

7. Harry's crew did, no thanks to Nancy
The fact is Pelosi allowed enough questionable stuff in the House version that it gave the republicans valid talking points. Don't get me wrong, the things that I call questionable are ALL desirable, what is questionable is if they should be in a stimulus package.

For example, politically speaking putting in millions of dollars for Hollywood was guaranteed to provide a lightening rod for criticism. And why almost a billion dollars to build and furnish a new headquarters for DHS.

To be fair, I think you can argue strenuously for about half of the measly 2% of the House package that RW blovators called into question... but a politically astute Speaker would have avoided giving the opposition such easy targets for attack IMO.

As another ... building the DHS HQ will provide years of employment and is also a shit or get off the pot moment. Either break up DHS or house it. Right now, they're scattered all over hell's half acre and that contributes to the mess they're in.

I say break them up, but that ain't happenin'
