The Senate plans to take a final vote on its $827 billion economic stimulus package at noon Tuesday, as angry Republicans joined pleased Democrats in extended debate on the plan. Senators will vote on cutting off that debate Monday evening. Sixty votes are needed, and all 56 Democrats are expected to be joined by two independents and Republican Sens. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and Susan Collins of Maine, who helped draft the compromise Friday.

Conservatives are social and fiscal Darwinists, they do not care about those whose very survival is in jeopardy, since they know that tax cuts and increased defense spending will force the government to drastically slash or even better, eliminate "entitlement" programs, which is their "Holy Grail" and ultimate goal. Having that HUGE federal deficit hanging over the US like the sword of Damocles, helps, rather that hurts their cause, which is why it was ignored and permitted to be greatly increased during the past 8 years.

They are also obviously willing to sacrifice even some, or if necessary, many of their unwitting fellow "middle-class" conservatives, who might also eventually lose their jobs (if they haven't already) and may end up suffering the same homeless, starving, and destitute fate. If a conservative victim of the recession would dare to apply for temporary federal/state assistance to bridge the employment gap, he or she is anti-American, and a traitor to core conservative values.
