Remind me, folks...why IS Harry Reid still Senate Majority Leader? |
|
Has there ever been ANY upside to having the walking corpse from the desert in that job?
Has America's most famous zombie ever actually achieved anything for our party?
Why does this void in a suit survive in a job where he's useless?
Does ANYBODY know?
Just needed to ask and vent.

2. Uh, I was going for something more on the order of WHY he faced no opposition |
|
in his caucus rather than a simple statement that he didn't.
Can't we pretty much conclude that we gained seats in the Senate in '06 and '08 in SPITE of Reid rather than because of him?

4. He faced no opposition because evidently they want him to be their leader. |

8. Don't you have some local politicians to bitch about... |
|
you know, like the ones you actually vote for.
(And it's the Majority Whip who does most of the stuff you're bitching about)

12. The Majority Leader controls the way the Senate is run. |
|
The leader largely sets the agenda and decides the strategy. It's not like Reid's a figurehead.
Why hasn't our Senate caucus wanted a leader who was a fighter? Someone who'd stand up for our party's agenda and its core values in the way that Dole or McConnell stand for their party's.
Reid acts like Democrats are the junior partners in a center-right coalition, in the numerical majority only because the GOP somehow tolerates it.

10. because none of our senators shares your opinion of him |
|
not one, not Durbin, not Feingold, not Sanders, not Boxer, none of them. If you run for senator and win, yours will be the sole vote against Reid.

11. Still doesn't explain why THEY think he should be leader. |
|
I'd have to be staggeringly obtuse not to have noticed that Reid's colleagues disagree with my views of the man(which are also the views of, from what I've seen, a strong plurality if not an outright majority of DU'ers.)
