The Israeli prime ministerial frontrunner will win a US blessing to enter war with Iran, says a source familiar with US Mideast policies.

Aaron David Miller, the US State Department's top analyst in the 1980s, said Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu will be able to convince President Barack Obama that a military attack is the only solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.

"The Israelis will be pushing to ensure that Iran never gets to that point and failing that, they will consider a military strike," Reuters quoted Miller -- who is a former US Middle East peace negotiator and is currently an analyst at the Woodrow Wilson Center -- as saying late Friday.

1. Obama needs to ignore every word out of Netanyahu's mouth

Netanyahu is a radical, dangerous man. In his prior stint as Prime Minister, he increased the illegal settling of Palestinian lands, fomented hatred of Israelis by Palestinians, and did everything in his power to ramp up the violence on both sides. I find it extremely sad and scary that Israel is going to elect this guy.

our military is too preoccupied with Iraq and Afghanistan. Israel on the other hand I can see going at it with Iran, they seem to be hell bent on going to war with someone.

We can't even make enough ammunition for our troops. Rifle ammo contracts are outsourced to China.

We need to bring back our steel mills, repair our rail lines and re-build the electrical grid.

Of course, all this can not be done with a CONgress that rewards companies for taking jobs overseas.

7. Your last line struck a chord

If what the first poster said is true, then the shadowy neocon forces (see PNAC) are still pulling the strings. Israel has always been a forward military base-by-proxy for the US,... perhaps even it's the 51st state, as another thread suggests. And the PNAC was nothing if not Israeli-oriented. This is disturbing, to say the least,... though hardly surprising.
