Senate Dems will have just enough votes to pass stimulus

By David Lightman | McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON — The Senate plans to take a final vote on its $827 billion economic stimulus package at noon Tuesday, as angry Republicans joined pleased Democrats in extended debate on the plan Saturday.

Senators will vote on cutting off that debate Monday evening. Sixty votes are needed, and all 56 Democrats are expected to be joined by two independents and Republican Sens. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and Susan Collins of Maine, who helped draft the compromise Friday.

2. My thoughts exactly. Except on the identity of the 'who' that can screw us
up. Hell, anyone of 'em can. Look at that specimen of weasel dung Ben Nelson. That bastard claims to be a dem. Look at his shennanigans the other day.

Our side is as full of corporatist quislings as the other.

3. Who Cares If It Wins By One Of 20...
No doubt...this bill will be back in the Senate in a few weeks after the House ammends it. I'm hoping by then we have a sitting Senator Franken ready to add a very needed vote.

It'll be interesting to see what pressure is applied to Snowe, Specter and Collins...or will they sway a few over. The battle is on their turf. Game on.
