...otherwise known as insane motherfuckers are going gah-gah over a CPAC convention. Folks, you cannot make this stuff up and the highlight of their asylum-like statements is: the oxycontin-chugging, viagra-swilling, boy buggering fat bag 'o shit should run for President. (Oh, by the by, Jim, how's that Freepathon going? Running a little long. Hope the mortgage on that camper isn't due).

The hilarity ensues here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2180458/posts

Report: Palin to speak, Limbaugh to keynote at CPAC
Hot Air ^ | Feb 5, 2009 | AllahPundit

Posted on Saturday, February 07, 2009 10:15:43 AM by CARepublicans

Good lord. It’s grassroots Woodstock.

The annual CPAC convention of conservatives is expected to be a sellout because two huge names are coming to deliver red-meat speeches: Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin. We’ve got the whole list for you below. Limbaugh will play clean-up, speaking last on Saturday February, and organizers expect him to expand on fight with Obamacans over his recent comment: “I want him to fail.”

The schedule at the link says only that they’ve been invited, not that they’ve confirmed, but the fact that each has been given a specific time slot — Palin speaks in the showcase 4:30 slot on Thursday, the first day — presumably means they’re booked.

and...be a puppet for a bunch of self serving people? No, Rush is just fine where he is...he has proven that in the past and is certainly proving that now. Otherwise, why would they want to silence him????? They have not been able to put anyone on the air that can hold an audience. You’d think they would take a lesson from the success Rush has enjoyed but...then again...that’s why they can’t hold an audience. :)

Fairness Doctrine? yeah right...this will be a battle royal if they try to silence Rush or ANYONE else like this. I can’t wait. America will not stand for this...no way...no how!!!

What a completely irrelevant requirement for a leader. Regan was on his second marriage when he was elected, Clinton is still married to his first wife. Might as well point out that he can't be smart enough to be president because he didn't go to an Ivy league school.

People need to make a choice.

They are either with the 2010s new conservative movement, (Sarah Palin) or they are a part of the Old Republican party from the 2000s.

and they need to accepted or rejected on that basis.

It is not irrelevant to me. It is important to me that people take family values seriously. I was very young when Reagan became president (sixth grade). Today I think that a leader should lead from home. Just my opinion and we may not ever agree. Obviously I made an exception with McCain so it is not an absolute thing for me but just important.

If Republicans are going to continue to say that they support “family values”, then it seems like having a candidate who actually walks the walk so to speak would be important. To his credit, Limbaugh has not been hypocritical in this regard. I don’t recall him criticizing people for having many marriages and divorces.

If I were Rush, I would run. If I were he, I would also have major security as the Left would like to have him accidentally be eliminated, Clinton-style.

Savage would give a good run for governor against Newsom and/or Feinstein.

Vin, I like your site and all you have done in support of Sarah.

But I think you are under estimating the Governor and over estimating Ramras, Ashley Judd and others. The Alaskan and American people know that there are people out to destroy Sarah. Until she really screws up in governing somehow, going to a well off dinner or to CPAC is not going to hurt her very much.

23. I don't know,
there was a poll out a while ago that said her approval was still around 60%, but this particular pollster doesn't have the best track record, and I find it really hard to believe that her numbers are that high given everything that came out over the course of the campaign and her continuing missteps.

She's having to answer for the debacle in western Alaska, these lingering Troopergate and other ethical issues, her pipeline that may not ever get off the ground, a $1.67 billion budget shortfall because she stupidly based her budget on $75 a barrel oil, not to mention all this national grandstanding that takes her away from the business of Alaska during our short legislative session. Comments at the Daily News consistently run against her.

It will be interesting to see what happens next year.

25. Don't worry about Wiener doggie
If I recall correctly, he's had a hard-on for Alaska ever since Sarah was first picked by McCain, or maybe even before that. There are certain Alaska-dissers whom I remember, so I don't let them get my blood pressure up.

But, for the record, you are correct, we did NOT inflict Sarah on the rest of the United States; in fact, most of us were laughing our asses off when McCain picked her because we could foresee what a disaster she would be. http://www.adn.com/politics/story/510249.html She lied to Alaskans to get elected in the first place (claiming that she was going to be all open and transparent), so we are in a way grateful to John McCain because he drew much-needed media attention to Sarah's shortfalls.

My favorite quote from that newspaper article:

The reaction wasn't so rosy elsewhere. State Senate President Lyda Green said she thought it was a joke when someone called her at 6 a.m. to give her the news.

"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president?" said Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla. "Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?"

33. She was elected because she wasn't Frank Murkowski,
Edited on Sun Feb-08-09 07:15 PM by Blue_In_AK
who by the time he left office was the least popular governor in the country. She had acquired a reputation as a straight-shooter (believe it or not) having called out some of her fellow Republicans (including the party chair) on their corrupt ways, and by raising taxes on the oil companies, she seemed to be standing up to their pressure. This is right about the time that Bill Allen and VECO were doing all the dirty work for Big Oil in our state legislature (which resulted in all the convictions last year), so anybody sticking it to the Big 3 looked pretty good. She seemed like a breath of fresh air in the midst of the FBI investigations and so on. Tony Knowles, her Democratic opponent, had already been governor, had lost the senatorial election to Lisa in 2004, and seemed like old news to a lot of people, and Andrew Halcro, her Independent opponent, just couldn't pull enough votes. (In retrospect, he was probably the smartest person in the room and should have been elected.)

Before McCain picked her for VP, she seemed to be doing an okay job as governor. She was working well with the Democrats in the legislature (her approval rating was actually higher with the Dems than the Republicans), and she was keeping her right-wing religious views pretty much to herself. People knew she was pro-life and all, but she didn't try to cram through any onerous legislation along those lines, and we had no clue about the witch doctor and so on.

There were starting to be some chinks in her positives just before McCain picked her -- the Troopergate investigation was just starting, and she was spending less and less time in Juneau, which bothered the members of the legislature. Also she was starting to catch some flak over her support for the Pebble Mine, aerial wolf hunting, and so on -- she publicly opposed measures we had on our August ballot for clean water and against the aerial predator control, and a lot of people were pretty pissed off at her for jumping into those controversies.

But after McCain picked her, of course, all hell broke loose and we learned more bad stuff than we ever knew existed. Honestly, we were as surprised as everyone else at a lot of the things that were exposed. And we were SHOCKED at the tone she took at the convention and on the campaign trail. That was unlike anything we had ever heard from her before.

She's been trying to recoup some of her bipartisan cred since she's been back, but no one trusts her anymore. In fact, we feel like she must have been continually lying to us for the previous two years, just trying to do or say whatever she needed to to build up her popularity in the state with an eye towards national ambitions. At this point, I don't believe a word that comes out of her mouth. It's that old "fool me once, we won't get fooled again" thing.

I'm sure whoever did would find A LOT of support from DU.

And I think it would be fun, as it would pester the guv to no end.

Or are they just always fundraising? I could understand why they might need to be, what with that cutting edge website they have.

Then EVERY dirty little secret of theirs would be exposed for the general public to see. Rush's pill-popping and boy-buggering would be known to everyone. His career would be OVER. Which is why he doesn't have the balls to run.

36. I knew it was just a matter of time before they started clamoring for Limpballs for president
--I'm surprised it's taken them this long--well, freeps aren't the brightest bulb on the ole Xmas tree.

what on earth would be in that slimeball's "platform"? he's an "entertainer," nothing more, nothing less. does he have even a college degree? do they really think he can rally everybody around his "ideas" to make policy and guide the course of the entire country? he's alienated only about 3/4 of the country with his hate-filled tirades. no, widdle fweepoids, Rushie pill-popper will never run for president--he's got waaaay too much to hide. I wish he would, though, it would be soooo gratifying to watch him lose BIG TIME.
