I favor Howard Dean for HHS .... but I am taking bets that he will not get it |
|
I would love to lose these bets.
If I win, I will ask nothing of you except to acknowledge that I won the bet.
If you win, I will do the same.
None of us has money to burn.

The Hill is Democratic. They **all** owe him in one way or another.

11. Yeah, Dean will just work for the people. That makes him ineligible. |

9. I'm sorry ..... I edited the comment to which you replied. |

My bad ..... I had posted it in error as a reply to the OP when I meant it as a rely to another comment.
Just so your post makes sense, here is what I edited out:
"Work the Hill" The Hill is Democratic. They **all** owe him in one way or another.

him to national attention and supported him. What's your point?

|

I have been hugely impressed by Obama in many ways, and he has shown some shrewd touches in regards to trying to be inclusive, and to be seen being inclusive (some of those moves have been criticised heavily at DU, and I understand both the criticism while able to rationalise and understand what I perceive to be Obama's political motivation) but I do think that there are signs he is taking some of his own base for granted. Dean would be a good choice for that reason, on top of others, such as his popularity, medical background, and proven ability to organise and succeed in a task considered hopeless or daunting by a large majority. Further, if it were really true that he wished to create a "team of rivals" then Dr Dean and Emanuel working in the same administration would fit that banner perfectly. However, I can't see it happening.

13. I favor him, too, and agree he will not get it. |
|
It would be nice if a bone was thrown toward the left wing of the party, but I doubt it will happen. Howard would fight for single payer. Anyone else who has been named will work with big insurance (translation: forget about getting affordable healthcare).

14. Haven't seen a post about it here but.. |
|
Bernie Sanders wrote a letter to Obama supporting Dean as Secretarty of Health and Human Services. Hope it helps. I know Dean would be wonderful in that position.
