Dear GOP: I will already get a huge tax cut this year when I file.. |
|
<rant>
Thanks to not earning nearly as much as normal, I will NOT have to pay nearly the taxes I normally pay.
I don't need another tax cut you dumbasses... I NEED a job.
I'd be HAPPY to pay higher taxes if I could have the Clinton economy back.
Under Clinton my salary went up 500% in eight years and I was never unemployed more than perhaps two or three months total.
Under GWB it has gone down 25% and I've been unemployed about 1 out of the last 8 years in total.
Signed, An Unhappy Customer...

1. Yes, I would much prefer to be paying taxes |
|
than not paying them because I don't make any money.
Clinton Economy. Ah, yes, that sounds SO good right now.

Start your own business! Sell anything and everything to own to anyone who will buy it for a profit! Clothes, car(s), jewelry, small children, land, electronics, or any other item you may currently own will do!

7. If I get any more tax cuts |
|
the IRA will owe me money! In 2003,we paid $2540 in income tax. This year, on only a couple of thousand less income - $166! Next year we won't have to take a Minimum Required Distribution on my husband's IRA so we'll probably pay no tax at all. This is mainly due to the fact that capital gains and "qualified" dividends (that is, income from investments), are now taxed at a far lower rate than "ordinary income", ie., what working people earn (some actually at 0%!). We live a modest, but comfortable, life in retirement and could afford to pay some taxes. Certainly we can more easily afford it than young working families with the same income. Something is wrong, and I say that even though it's accruing to my benefit. And yes, we do contribute generously to charity to make up for this largess.

12. Apparently it's NOT possible - pick one.. |
|
based on the Clinton vs. the Bush years, I'd rather have a small tax rate hike on the wealthy or even upper middle class if it meant fixing the economy and having some upward mobility again.

11. the fact that capital gain is taxed at a much lower rate than regular income.... |
|
.... is an absolute travesty. a total slap in the face to regular working people.
we live in a fucking plutocracy.

15. i wouldn't say they are "smarter", i might say - as a biologist and a cynic - |
|
... that the fuckers might be more evolutionarily fit (in a pure darwinist sense, as in "the survival of the fittest") than we are.
unfortunately, psychopathy (in this case, out-of-control greed and lust of power, coupled with complete absence of empathy) seems to be a favorable adaptive trait.

16. 'Smarter'--the connotation being that one who makes lots of money is 'smart'. |
|
That's the way it's been framed since I was growing up. Typical of our short-sighted approach to life on the planet. If you figure out a way to make lots of money it matters not if you can't drink the water, breathe the air, or your children die from exposure to chemicals or bullets/IED's. Even as a teenager I just couldn't comprehend the argument that being able to make lots of money made one smarter than others.
Evolutionarily fit would only apply in the narrowest sense also. What evolutionary benefit is it to gain material wealth but destroy your species?
Good for the planet probably. Humans and other living things? not so much.

dude, i'm afraid they're only concerned about short-time, immediate benefits/advantages;
i don't even think they think any further in time than their kids's futures.
and i could bet a million bucks (if i had it, LOL!) that they_could_care_less about the species in general
(in fact, their behavior seems to indicate the opposite).
(i'm saying all this NOT for the sake of arguing with you, or anything like that.... i just appreciate having this discussion! :)

got confused with the double negatives (sorry, i'm not a native English speaker.)
what i meant to say was that.... they don't give a fuck about the long-term perspectives of the human race.

20. Hey, I'm with you on your statements 100%. They do not give a fuck. Probably because |
|
they're too busy getting rich to even consider reflecting on such mundane matters as how their actions might affect others--or the planet.
