OK, folks the (Republican) party's over. I get nervous when thinking about |
|
what comes next.
Loosely following John Dean (Conservatves Without Conscience]/i]) and social psychologist Bob Altmeyer, I basically conceive the Right Wing as consisting of two groups: the sheep (the dittoheads, rednecks, Fundie followers, etc.) and the wolves--the Roves, Frists, Falwells, Robertsons, Limbaughs, Wildmons etc., who prey upon them. To mix my agrarian metaphors, the sheep have been a real cash cow for the wolves. What will the wolves do, now that they've lost the flocks upon which they are accustomed to prey?

1. Like a cornered animal, they're likely to strike back |
|
in some way. I'd keep a close eye on what Blackwater's doing, frankly. As the private army of the Dominionists, they are especially dangerous. A close eye, too, on the "christian" right and its leaders. There's no problem keeping an eye on Limbaugh, since he spits in America's eye on a daily basis. It's the ones who don't go public with their views who are dangerous to the nation.
I have no doubt that we're going to see the cornered animal attempt something at some level, and probably sooner than later.

5. I think there are enough of them... |
|
...entrenched in high places in government and in the corporate world--that they're still pulling strings.
I don't know what they could do.
They've lost their stranglehold on the sheep, like you said. However, "We The People" are really inconsequential to them.
So, I don't know. I don't fully understand who they are or how they are operating.
Earlier today, I was researching a pharmaceutical drug, and I noticed some interesting things about BushCo's nomination of VonEschenbach as FDA Commissioner. Their was a huge flap about him being against the morning-after pill. Huge. Republicans touted his pro-life stances, and two prominent Dem Senators publicly opposed the nomination for his pro-life views. The result...a bright, shiny smokescreen--that blocked information about this guy--who is a total shill for big pharma. The result today...drugs that are rammed through the FDA approval process and Americans who are dying from the side effects.
This relates to your initial point--because I think we know and see what they want us to know and see. They'll do whatever they damn well please.
We have a new leader in Obama, but these thugs are like those creatures in "Aliens". They're incubating inside our system, whether we like it or not.

6. It is? Why is it they're able to demand a cut of $100b in the stimulus? |
|
Why is it that they can kill school construction but keep yet more tax cuts that we really don't need right now?

8. There's only one thing more dangerous than a Republican in power |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-09-09 01:52 PM by PlanetBev
That is a Republican out of power. These people need power like we need air. They are likely to become more dangerous as they engage in a life or death struggle.
