Yes, perfume for dogs. I just heard a story about it on Marketplace Morning Report. Normally I would rail against this as frivolous, decadent, and symptomatic of the wastefulness of our society (like the doll hair stylists in American Girl stores).
But you know what? I'm not going to this time. Apparently the pet goods industry actually grew a whopping 5% last year. So I'm willing to put up with it. May your stupid and pointless services keep us afloat just long enough to reestablish an actual economy.
End minor rant (rantling).

1. Well, my dog would probably love a liver or beef scent but would |

not care for the florals!

2. Perfume? Hell I'd settle for doggy deodorant |
|
I don't need them to smell good, just to not smell bad!

3. All I want is for my dog to stop eating dead deer. |
|
Right this second, I'm taking a break from mopping the floor, which he shat all over this morning.

4. My dog had her own special fragrances |
|
She was particularly fond of dead fish and would roll on one every chance she got. Her next favorite was cow pies. She didn't come in contact with too many of those. Sort of like my not having access to high end French parfumeries.
Perfume is so personal. How ever will the dog tell you the fragrance you have chosen just doesn't wear well?

5. Perfume was originally used to cover BO |
|
So I guess dog owners would rather spend money than actually BATHE their dogs?

7. I would think that would be actually cruel to the dogs. Given their sense of semell, |
|
the comparison would be to hang a radio tuned to loud static around someone's neck!

9. Funny you mention that. |
|
The dogs they spritzed on the show sounded none too pleased. The journalist commented that one retreated to the other side of the room in apparent fear.

10. My daughter is a dog groomer at Petsmart. They routinely "perfume" freshly groomed dogs |
|
Of course **"the parents" can request no perfume. She said during October/November - a pumpkin spice fragrance is a favorite among her clients ;)
**My daughter says all the pets owners are called "the parents" hehe.
