For those of us who couldn't see or hear Obama's speech how was it? |
|
Will it make Repugs whine even more because he basically showed the country what idiots they are?
Did he call on Helen Thomas?
1 to 10 how did he score?

Repugs have all pee'd their pants and are crying for their mommies. Yes, he called on Helen. A definite 10. :D

9. I noted how he addressed the MSM. |
|
And did not look full into the camera (dear god, I do not miss seeing Bush looking like a deer in the headlights, or like some actor doing a skit on Hee Haw.) He knows the American people get it, we're on his side, and he knows the MSM isn't. I thought it was fucking brilliant!

4. 9.8, and yes he called on Helen |
|
He could have hit a couple questions at 100% clarity, but he did great on most. On the economy and FDR and stimulus policy - he scored a 15.

He called on Helen, yes. There are many comments here at DU that will give you the scoop. Also a live blog at Daily Koz for more in-depth info. C-span may have the full text up as well. A MUST SEE.

And I quit smoking many, many years ago! He did not call on Helen first, but gave her deference, but also showed everyone in the room who was in control (Helen tried a few follow ups. He took one and moved on.) I give him a 10!

7. He answered a lot of the criticism |
|
that have been circulating the last few weeks and managed without seeming overtly angry to explain why the Republican blockage crew is stupid. Basically he said the economists on the right and left agree with the stimulus but only the politicians on the right are the ones who disagree and then reminded viewers that it was those same people who got us in the mess we're in now. He was BRAVO!

15. He knocked it out of the ballpark. |
|
He showed a total grasp of the issues. He showed that he has a firm handle on the many problems. IMO he gave the people reason to be confident in the future.

12. Oh boy. The repukes are surely wailing and gnashing their teeth. Obama |
|
was smooth as silk and managed to remind his audience about what he inherited after the last eight years of failed policies...read tax cuts.

19. Surprised that no one ran a thread on the press conference --- why not????? |
|
Meanwhile, while I couldn't pay absolute attention --- I did watch what I could --
One of the last questions by a male journalist really irked me ....
something like the Stimulus had a 30% chance of failing ... blah, blah, blah...
I was hoping that Obama would say that US taxpayers had to bail out corporations/capitalism
repeatedly -- and we've now given capitalism/corporations $8.5 TRILLION . . .
with many questions about how this money is being spent. Did that journalist ask that
question of the capitalism bail out????
