Goya's Ghosts - and being "put to the question" |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-10-09 12:58 AM by Duer 157099
I saw this film last night and, well, couldn't help but envisioning chimpy or cheney or turdblossom hanging up by the chandelier and being "put to the question" - my or my how history rhymes eh?
For anyone who hasn't seen it, it's about the hideousness of the Spanish Inquisition, with a decidedly contemporary point being made, imho.
"Put to the question" was the church's euphemism for torture

1. It really is the Bardem character's movie, more than Goya's... |
|
he's just used to observe all the atrocities playing out around him...

3. Well, he's always good. Portman isn't bad in it, either... |
|
...but it's like they didn't *quite* know what they wanted the overall film to be...

4. I didn't know any background (and still don't) |
|
and my whole interpretation was that it was an indictment against the Bush administration.
Or am I just too myopic these days?
