And they handed you the keys as they almost ran from the house? The house was burning down. Then the arsonist comes back around as you are fighting the fire - that he set - and complains about how much water you are throwing on the fire? Then, they are of such fine character that they crow about how the house was in much better shape when they left it. There was only a small fire and look at it now! You have let it get out of control. What would you think of that person??
