Anybody know about Black Press of Canada? Word is they are trying to buy San Diego's Union Tribune.

The Union-Tribune is notoriously right-wing conservative; the publisher once donated a million bucks to put elephant fireworks in the sky during the GOP convention here and they are extremely biased in their political coverage.

I'd be very interested to know if the prospective new owner is liberal, conservative, or simply a straight-up journalist with no perceivable bias.

and I'm Canadian. As a 'western' concern, they may well be very conservative.

Torstar owns 20% though, and they are mandated by their original owner to be liberal. They currently run The Star, which is the largest newspaper in Canada.

Doesn't guarantee David Black however, but if he is already facing junk bond status, it may not be a problem.
