FBI raids peanut butter plant suspected in outbreak

(CNN) -- FBI agents Monday raided a rural Georgia
peanut butter plant suspected as the source of a
nationwide salmonella outbreak, a CNN affiliate
reported.

The Peanut Corporation of America plant in Blakely,
Georgia, was sealed off by federal authorities Monday
morning, WALB reported.

The company is accused of knowingly shipping tainted
products now linked to nearly 600 illnesses, including
eight deaths, in 43 states. The recent outbreak has
led to one of the largest food recalls in U.S. history,
encompassing more than 1,000 products.

-snip-

Representatives from the company have not returned
repeated calls from CNN.

1. Now that's some fast action!
Eight people dead, and the FBI springs into action! I heard they had to pull a lot of agents off their surveillance of the Biograph Theater in Chicago. Something big supposed to go down there . . .

3. Isn't that the company Jimmy Carter used to own?
If so, I bet he's spitting fire today. Carter's hardly the type of person to want others harmed by any of his actions - unlike corporate Republicans who are far more "Marie Antoinette" about life.

8. it's past time for a corporate death penalty
These fuckers need to lose everything for what they've done. Corporations want the free speech rights of citizens, then they'd better damn well start acting like citizens or they suffer the same consequences.
