Should Limbaugh, Hannity, and O'Reilly condemn the acts of the church shooter?
They clearly espouse the exact same views as Jim David Adkisson has toward liberals. He listened to their shows. He was inspired by their books.

If they don't condemn this guy, isn't it just the same as encouraging other right-wingers that worship them to kill liberals?

14. Kinda like the IRA taking credit for a bomb blast in London.

2. They won't go near it, cowards that they are.
It doesn't fit their playbook.

3. Why would they condemn their faithful acolyte?
That's like expecting the Pope condemning the Cardinals who elected him. Wouldn't make any sense.

6. Well, if they advocate murder, it's certainly grounds to get them off the air.
And refusing to repudiate this kind of action, which they encourage with their vitriolic tirades, is virtually advocating murder.

How many times have they demanded that all Islamic leaders denounce acts of terrorism and said if they didn't, it was giving tacit approval to the terrorism?

10. I agree
Considering how widely they cast their net to impute any questionable activity to Democratic and progressive leaders, this is hardly any stretch at all to put Mr. Adkisson squarely in the inner circle of hate speech devotees. And I have no problem whatsoever imputing Mr. Adkisson's cowardly murders to the likes of Hannity, Liddy and O'Reilly and their seditious squealings.

16. Aw, Rushbo is just an entertainer.
Let's not be too harsh on him.

Conspiracy to commit murder sounds about right.

5. It should already have happened...last year.
Today I'd just say "time to move on." I've been posting about this quite a bit at my UU message board, including items from the past few days which some of you might like to see;

http://faithofthefree.informe.com/forum/resilience-marks-church-anniversary-dt1999.html

They keep calling him "sick" as if it was a disease, but I would suggest that it was the result of a much deeper disease, of which Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. are major spreaders. These folks should have been held accountable for stoking these fires that consumed this man.

9. There has to be someone in a position of power who can call those assholes out on this.
Having Rush Limbaugh and the others to personally denounce his attacks would really put the smack-down on Adkisson. And maybe, just maybe, it will encourage Limbaugh, et al, to be a little more civil in their discourse.

If they don't denounce the attack, every time talk radio is discussed in Congress it should be brought up that he has never denounced this murder.

12. Earlier I printed a copy of his 'manifesto', and it reads like a
combination of Palin, Rush, the CoulterBeast, Hannity, Billo, the more prevalent spreaders of hate, along with the reference to Goldberg and his book.

15. I wish one of the victims would take him to civil court.
I know he doesn't have any assets, but it would be good to force him to testify about how he came to his hatred for all things liberal.

Seeing as he had books from virtually every conservative nutjob out there, he can hardly deny that he was heavily influenced by their ranting. It would be nice to have it in testimony so it could be presented to the Congress and FCC.

17. Here's a sample for you:
"Lately I've been feeling helpless in our war on terrorizm. But I realized I could engage the terrorists allies here in America. The best allies they've got. The Democrates! The democrates have done everything they can do to tie our hands in the War on Terror. They're all abunch of traitors. They want America to loose this war for reasons I can not understand. It makes me soooo mad!

Sound familiar? It gets worse and one ironic note is that with all of the misspellings and horrible writing is this gem, "The worst problem America faces today is Liberalism. They have dumbed down education."

20. The sad part of it is that he thinks we are evil, but can't understand our motivation.
'They want America to loose this war for reasons I can not understand.'

Maybe, just maybe if you can't understand why someone would want something, you need to make sure you actually understand the situation. If Adkisson supports the war in Iraq, should I assume he supports it because he likes it when American soldiers die and wants as many to die as possible, then bewail that I can't understand how someone could possibly want American soldiers to die?

I know I don't do that. I generally assume people's motivation is good, even if I disagree with their how they want to accomplish their goal. He assumes half the country wants our country to be destroyed by radical Islamic terrorists. That belief is even less understandable because he assumes most of us are atheists. Nobody would fight harder against being taken over by fundamentalist Islamic terrorists than people who don't even want Christianity imposed on them.

But he doesn't get it. He can't think beyond what he has been told, and he has been told we hate America and want the terrorists to win. So even though he doesn't understand why, he doesn't try to assign us any other motivation (such as we want to eradicate Islamic terrorism, but we want to do it differently) which would actually make sense.

And sadly, there is an extremely large subset of the American populace that thinks EXACTLY the way he does.

7. They indirectly encourage such actions = Hate republican radio (and television).
They don't believe progressive liberal democrats should have a voice ever, they would love to see us ALL dead if they could and they do encourage such actions.

8. Yes, as surely they all claimed every Muslim on earth had to
condemn the 911 attacks. And when several Muslim leaders did, they ignored it and continued to claim that the "Muslims" had not condemned that attacks, were silent, and were therefore supportive, and therefore all deserving to be bombed.

11. Well, he needs to not only condemn them, he needs to explain his condemnation.
Just saying, "I condemn the Adkisson's actions." does nothing in and of itself. He needs to say I condemn them because he condemns any act of violence against anyone who simply holds different political views.
