You cannot jump start the heart of someone who's been dead for months. |

The politicians of America are those creepy people who keep their dead relatives around because they can't handle their deaths.
And for those who don't know what I'm talking about, it's the economy stupid.

15. Purpose of Stimulus Bill: Keep People from Rioting until (hopefully) something good happens or |
|
Americans drastically lower Expectations and resign selves to a 2-class society with ever-diminishing opportunities and benefits for most of us.
The 2-classes as our self-appointed masters see it:
First Class: comprised of rich investors, corporate titans and their flunkies, faux-liberal Ivy League planners and internationalists, rich celebrities, governing elitists and people who have easy access to them, people who pay vast sums to politicians for "speaking engagements"
Steerage: comprised of the rest of us (aka Needy People, Objects of Pity, Losers, Overpriced Laborers, Useless Eaters-Persons trained or working in Exportable job categories, retired people, people who believe the System is on the Level, American Dreamers, people to whom politicians speak to for free by video or in staged settings when they want something.
A dismal future for the Steerage Class Can Still Be Averted.

18. more than months- years. We were told to 'go shopping' after 9/11 |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-11-09 01:48 AM by Bluerthanblue
and so 'we' did.
It was the 'patriotic' thing to do. And now the bill has come in.
As someone who has been surfing this life just above and below poverty level for the last 15 yrs, it was hard to believe the "financial crisis'" we are experiencing was anything but inevitable. Eight years of war, with no "victory gardens"- no mandatory recycling programs or rationing- tax cuts for those who have the most, while outsourcing our troops and leaving them to beg for medical care, housing, rehab- etc. And what did our 'country' ask of us here on the home-front? buy a new vehicle, go about your business, travel, go shopping....... ?????
I'm encouraged by Pres. Obama's continued emphasis that we aren't going to get out of this easily, or quickly. Because I believe he's attempting to help us all refocus, and quit trying to find happiness in stuff, and hoarding all manner of things.
Rehab isn't easy, fun or comfortable - but it's a hell of a lot better than staying stuck in the circling toilet bowl that only leads to a place even more full of crap.
