Poll question: Do you have a DVR
and would you ever part with it?

Me? I have a HD Tivo - it is the best thing to come along since the microwave. I am wondering how many people agree or disagree - the DVR is awesome.

8. Exactly.
We use it every day - Example: My kids - 8 and 9, love The Universe - (what a great show) on The History Channel - but they fall asleep right when it comes on - so we Tivo it and they watch it with me after school.

I also have several cool shows I like that come on at the same time and so I Tivo them - :)

28. We DVR sooo much stuff -- it's great!
And, YOU CAN PAUSE LIVE TV WHILE YOU RUN TO PEE AND GET A SNACK (or, in my wife's case, to grab a smoke).

6. Yeah, a non-HD Tivo
But I added a big hard-drive so it holds lots of stuff (including strange stuff that the Tivo picks when I'm not looking)

:hi:

14. I use DVD recorders when I feel
compelled to record something off the air, which is rarely. (I currently have 5 DVD recorders that I use for my business.)
I'm anxiously awaiting an HD DVD (probably Blue Ray) recorder to get to the states that's affordable and transportable.

35. I have to have recorders. (Yes, the HD picture is awsome.)
And of course would use them for playback as well. Eventually I'm going to have to convert to an HD camera but I hope that won't be necessary for at least a year.

19. Other: PBS
I recieve 5 PBS stations in addition to my local stations for local news related viewing.

Outside of that, I really have no need for a DVR to view cable programs that quite frankly we have no interest in nor are we really in a position to afford.

I'm glad that folks do enjoy theirs, and this isn't a 'holier than thou' threat against television by any means. It's just not for us...

Except for Lost. Lost is the only show I make plans to watch while it airs.

Everything else I grab off the internet or Hulu.

26. Love my HD Tivo.
Tivo works so much better than Cable Co box.

Plus they are easy to hack. Dropped in a 1TB drive so now I never run out of space and Tivo automatically finds stuff it thinks I will like with the free space.

30. Two of my TVs have DVR
I am never a slave to TV programming and just love that. I can wait until three in the morning to watch something and I can pause and rewind. I'm so spoiled by it I try to rewind the radio in my car. It just makes no sense anymore that I should have to miss part of a broadcast because a firetruck screamed by.

I also try to control-z everything that's not to my liking. (It's the keyboard shortcut to undo a mistake on computer) I use it so much for work, it has become instinctual to want to use it for real life.

36. I have a Tivo, but that doesn't mean I watch American Idol. I don't.
I use my Tivo to record stuff from CSPAN or History Channel or stuff that's interesting to me. Not American Idol or Big Brother or whatever.

In fact, that's WHY I like my Tivo. I can record what I want and skip the rest.
