Miami-Dade, Broward Teachers Face Off With Boards Over Budget

The Miami-Dade school board meeting Wednesday will be ground zero for teachers facing drastic pay cuts.

The board and the teachers union will face off over school Superintendent Alberto Carvalho's proposal to cut $56 million from the district's budget.

A bulk of the proposed cuts are to nonschool spending, but the board will try to shave $27 million by asking employees to defer some of their pay until the next fiscal year, which begins in July.

4. Education used to be at the top of the list for federal funds.
Now, the Rethugs are trying to deplete the public school system -- most probably because:

(1) they don't like facts being taught in the schools;

(2) what's taught in the schools doesn't match the disinformation being spoonfed to the parents who listen to Faux News, Get-a-Rush Limpballs, or Spawn Can-it-ty; and

(3) they want Rethug kids indoctrinated in privately-funded schools so that the kids will be with their "own kind" & will be taught propaganda & revised history.

Rethugs can't win elections on "facts" or "truth", and sadly, they'd rather mis-educate our children for the sake of elections & power. Unbelievable that there are people who would blindly go along with this, shooting themselves & their children in the foot.

9. That wouldn't surprise me. We've seen more than enough evidence of their love for money.

8. They don't want their kids in school with
brown skinned kids.

I am convinced racism is at the root of the voucher movement.
