Email I received from my brother - In God We Trust...

Here is the text of the email...

NBC was surprised?

Here's your chance to let the media know where the people stand on our
faith in God , as a nation. NBC is taking a poll on ' In God We Trust ' to
stay on our American currency. Ple ase send this to every Christian you
know so they can vote on this important subject. Please do it right
away, before NBC takes this off the web page.

Poll is still open so you can vote. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10103521/

This is not sent for discussion, if you agree forward it, if you don't, delete it.
By me forwarding it, you know how I feel. I'll bet this was a surprise to NBC.

2. I think Jesus had some words to say about that.
"Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and unto God what is God's.", or something like that.

4. Tell you pinhead brother
That the legend "In God We Trust" appeared on the edge of the coin in question, rather than on its face. But it so discombobulated the nutjobs who wet their pants at every opportunity that the U.S. Mint decided to put the language back on the face of the coins.

Oh, and tell him to change his shorts, get a grip, and learn how to behave as an adult. Be sure to hit "Reply All" when you e-mail him back.

9. Actually it has been there since 1861
The motto IN GOD WE TRUST was placed on United States coins largely because of the increased religious sentiment existing during the Civil War. Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase received many appeals from devout persons throughout the country, urging that the United States recognize the Deity on United States coins. From Treasury Department records, it appears that the first such appeal came in a letter dated November 13, 1861. It was written to Secretary Chase by Rev. M. R. Watkinson, Minister of the Gospel from Ridleyville, Pennsylvania, and read:
