7. This is a boycott, not a picket line, isn't it?
Not quite the same issue. I think he should probably join the boycott, but not doing so is not the same as crossing a picket line.

there has been a picket at the hotel often - most weekends and big conference days by both gay activist and union members.

4. and here's a bit of irony (and maybe only a bit)
a friend of mine attended an event the other night:


Chicago, IL — Chicago-based Equality Illinois, one of the Midwest's largest gay rights activism groups, held its annual black tie gala this past weekend in Chicago.

The "Justice for All" gala held Saturday at the Hilton Chicago is not only the largest LGBT-related black-tie gala in the Midwest, but it's the most influential LGBT-related political gathering for any politician who cares about the gay vote.
