Medi-Cal will not let me go out of county to see a psychiatrist. |
|
And, of course, there are no decent psychiatrists working in the county. There are only four that I know of. Three of them compose a sorry lot. I don't feel like going into details, but they really, really suck. The fourth is whomever the county has managed to hire temporarily. The doctor changes about every three months.
Tell me...how am I supposed to get decent care in this kind of situation?
In July, I tried a med change and it left me at the point of having a panic attack for about six weeks. Now, I can't seem to stop sleeping. I'm tired even after I've slept 12-14 hours. I think I'm too heavily medicated, but I'm afraid to trust any of the "Doctors du Jour" to change my meds.
This problem has been going on for years and I'm afraid I'm never going to get better unless something changes.
(My recent post about my fibroid tumor inspired me to post this. I can't get decent medical care here for that, but at least I'm free to seek help elsewhere.)

1. I was on Medicaid in AZ, and the situation was even worse |
|
We had no psychiatrists, only arrogant/incompetent nurse practitioners. Adding injury to injury, so many treatment locations were shut down, that I had to drive a 50+ mile round-trip to be doped up and treated like garbage.
Mental health care for the needy absolutely sucks in this country! :grr:

I've tried not to think about it too much, but my quality of life (if not my life itself) is at stake and I really don't have many options.

Why did this thread sink like a stone while my other thread, describing a purely physical problem, received 27 replies. Am I reading into this or do people differentiate between "physical" and "mental" health issues. Is there still a stigma even on DU?
FYI, "mental" health issues are physical.

5. Hi there, Ladyhawk. I'm sorry to hear you can't find a good doc. |
|
Is there a MediCal patients' advocate you can call in your county? It's awful not to have someone to adjust your meds.
