Funny blooper on Bill Press show just now
Edited on Thu Feb-12-09 07:35 AM by Wiley50
He's a real DLC pud but I woke up early and nothing else on.

He was interviewing Carolyn Mahoney, congresswoman from 14th Dist of NY.

They were talking about Kirstin what's her name, NY's new senator and about her perfect NRA rating.

She said, " I don't know if I want AKG's in the hands of criminals"

She meant AK47 or AK74, of course

AKG is a common brand of studio microphones. Press would be familiar with them and maybe even using one at that moment.

Press would have caught it. They cut to break and I'm sure he and the producer got a chuckle

1. Perhaps she was referring to their CK98 "shotgun" mic.

4. AKGs? So 1970. Give the gun nuts Sankens and Earthworks and turn them into engineer-producers!

Now that would solve the handgun problem and maybe yield some good music and audio documentarues!

7. Look above at the mention of Rush
Talk about old school. The one I always see with him in pics is a Turner Ribbon Mike.

Nut, of course, people who make a living with their voice develop a "sound"

with their particular "sweet" mike and won't part with it.

We used mostly Sennheisers and Nuemanns (esp those old U-87 monsters.

But, yeah, my audio days ended when folks stopped splicing tape. The real reason though was I had babies and had to get a real job

6. Maybe she meant "I don't want EKG's in the hands of criminals."
She mistook cardiologists for bandits just because they were wearing surgical masks.
