A Supportive Post and a Rant
Have we ever seen SO much dissent and blatant obstructionist, DESTRUCTIONIST behavior before aimed at a new president?

I know the right attacked Clinton immediately. But there is a level of opposition here on all levels that seems unprecedented.

Certainly the 2000 election (*cough* theft) was a different matter altogether and engendered dissent for obvious reasons.

But to have the media already talking about Obama not seeking re-election if his stimulus plan doesn't work is.....unfrigginbelievable!

I know they made that assumption by extrapolating from Obama's own words, but they jumped on it like white on rice.

He inherited a disaster. An unmitigated disaster. He was certainly aware of it, though perhaps not the extent of it, but he essentially knew what he was getting into. And, I'm sure he anticipated what is happening now as well.

Still, three weeks into his presidency there is widespread discussion of him failing and not seeking a second term. And it's from the left, center and right.

He's being attacked from all directions.

Honestly, it makes me want to support him wholeheartedly and, for now, even unquestioningly. I don't have any answers, but there seem to be 299 million other American citizens who feel THEY have the answers. There's so much "white noise" (interesting potential pun, though not intended; see below) out there now it's staggering...and, for me, mind-numbing. I don't watch or read anything any more. It's complete bullshit (always has been, but it seems so much worse since 1/20/09). I read the front page here and that's about it.

I'm not a lockstepper, but there is such a thing as providing support and giving someone a chance, especially if you voted for that person.

No, I'm not ranting about anything posted here at DU. Civil discussion and debate is the name of the game and I'm grateful we have it here (for the most part). This is a general rant about what I'm observing every single direction I turn since 1/20/09!!!

I even saw a redneck with an "Obama Sucks" t-shirt on one week after the election. That's not surprising.

But then I saw him in the parking lot, and his car had a decal showing someone literally pissing on the word "Obama." Just wow.

I have strong beliefs as to what is underlying these attacks. I won't rehash the whole racism debate that so many felt was best (for Obama) left unexplored, but to get a little woo-woo here....I strongly believe that, in general (yes, a huge generality is coming next) white, repressed, intellectually and emotionally lazy, Christian men -- some consciously and others subconsciously -- feel their very identity has been threatened not only with Obama's win, but with Hillary's close second.

White, repressed, intellectually and emotionally lazy Christian men (and the women who feel they must obey them) have had more power than any other group in the last x number of centuries. Their identity is threatened. They are rebelling and trying to destroy Obama in a big way. I thought they'd be in shock for a few months, but the Limbaugh Republicans rebelled immediately,

That's just a personal observation. I fully realize there are many opposing Obama, some for valid reasons and many, many of whom are NOT white, repressed, intellectually and emotionally lazy Christian men and the women who feel they must obey them.

I won't be back for a while to see if this is ignored, attacked, or engaged in any other fashion...lol...but I feel much better having said all this.

Thanks, DU! :)

1. "And it's from the left, center and right."
The left is sick and tired of being betrayed on policy matters- and having it chalked up to "bipartisanship."

The right is going to do everything in their power to drag him and the country down- no matter how much or how often he panders to them (just as they did with Clinton). And just as in 1994, if your supporters are disillusioned- they don't put their boots on the ground or GOTV.

So called "centrists" -whatever those are, are plain fickle, without much in the way of principles, and go whichever way the wind is blowing.

So there you have it. Screw the base- water down the stimulus win almost no Republican support and watch the "centrists" jump on the bandwagon.

We;ve seen it all before....

2. I agree whole-heartedly with you, but I also have another take on it. Well at
least part of it. The right wing has got to make believe Obama is failing because if they don't they have to admit that king ronnie was -gasp- wrong. This will NEVER happen. No matter what Obama does they will show the negative side and if they can't find a negative side they will some how show it to be their idea. The best we can hope for, I'm afraid, is to keep telling the truth and maybe, just maybe..........

3. So, coming back after being away from news for the day....
and checking in at DU, I see Gregg withdrew his nomination.

Another obstructionist/destructionist move by repugs.

Nauseating.

My wholehearted support continues, as do the feelings behind my rant.
