Which may be more of a reason he decided not to accept Obama's nomination... Because the Republicans would have likely lost his Senate seat in 2010, if he had been replaced.

He didn't resign and can run again in 2010. Methinks he had a lot of pressure applied by not just the party but his big money buddies. Wanna bet he gets is re-election campaign all but paid for and some donations to his favorites "charities" or PAC. Who knows, maybe he used this as a ploy all along to get some GOOP "love". No doubt, someone met his price. It's the repugnican way.
