How, Exactly, Is Gregg "A Blow" to President Obama?

Have you heard? Judd Gregg's withdrawal is a "blow" to the Obama administration! That's what Judy Woodruff told me tonight on the News Hour, anyway.

And she's not the only one. The New York Times also thinks that "Mr. Gregg's withdrawal was the latest blow for the White House." The Washington Post writes that this is "a major blow" and the Wall Street Journal claims that Gregg's withdrawal is "another embarrassing blow to the Obama administration."

You know, I have never seen so many Democratic activists so upset about what is apparently a major defeat for Democrats. Every blog post, and virtually every comment I read, is ecstatic. It kind of reminds me about how, after the 2006 elections, we were told that conservatives had actually won, so liberals should be upset.

Yes, it is truly awful that one less Republican will be in President Obama's cabinet. It is also "a blow" to President Obama and Democrats that Judd Gregg is so humiliated by this episode that he won't even seek re-election in 2010. And it is a terrible blow to progressives that the specific policy concerns of the three Congressional minority caucuses have more influence over White House policy than does the press corps' fascination with bipartisanship.

I'm devastated. What a huge blow. How will we ever recover from this terrible setback?

1. lol
Larry Kudlow posted something about how he thinks Judd should run for president, because he "obviously has so much integrity". Righhhht. It's really pathetic watching their spin.

11. Maybe they'll parole Jack Abramhoff early so he can run as Gregg's VP.
After all, you can never have too much integrity in any one administration.

4. What the GOPigs still don't understand
is that the American people are a lot smarter than they are, and the American public are seeing a new President trying his damnedest to be bi-partisan, only to have the GOPigs slap his hand away.

They know, and PRESIDENT OBAMA better keep taking that story to the people, not let them forget what he did and what the GOPigs did.

6. They are just spinning it
as usual. Dems should be happy (assuming we'll get a better pick). MSM will cover the republicans saying something is wrong, what with now three withdrawn cabinet picks. Most people won't care.

8. Is he not seeking reelection?
Edited on Thu Feb-12-09 08:51 PM by Juche
I didn't know about that. That changes everything. I was a little upset by this happening because NH has been leaning very dem lately. They have 2 dem congressmen, a dem senator, dem governor, went for Obama by 10%, and Gregg. I figured with Gregg back then he will run for and get reelected in 2010. So if Gregg is out it'll be easy for a democrat to pick that seat up.

Hell, this is great now that I know that.

And nobody cares.
