Nancy Skinner -- I have to apologize
A few days ago, here on DU, after listening to the program in which she sat in for Randi on very short notice, I wrote very critical things about Nancy Skinner and her show. Today and yesterday, I listened to more of her show and really enjoyed it. I seriously disagree with her on some things -- especially on how to best deal with the wrongs of the Bush administration, but she is doing a good job on afternoon radio. Thanks, Nancy. I apologize.

1. I'm actually enjoying her show. Her parent's were on today
giving her grief about her show yesterday regarding how to handle Bush and his gang of thugs for their war crimes. I didn't hear yesterday's show but I loved her parents being on today and giving her a hard time. For the most part I've been impressed with her.

6. I'm glad her parents and many others were pissed. I sure was.
I started this thread about her talk of any immunity when it comes to Bush Admin crimes.

I didn't have too many others who agreed with me. So, Thurs I was glad that she had to have her parents on

and spend a bunch of time backpedaling on what she said.

Overall, Nancy is very likeable and I know her history of activism and political runs

So she is someone who is more than just a mouth. But, there is also some truth to what I said about those liberals that Faux Snooze

has on repeatedly.

But, she really pissed me and others off about her talk of cutting any slack to the BFEE

7. I absolutely disagree with Nancy about immunity.
She needs to ask a lawyer what immunity would mean. It would be a disaster, a horrible disaster for the development of constitutional law in the country. It would leave too many very important issues unconsidered and undecided. Unfortunately, we have several raving conservatives on the Supreme Court. That may be why Leahy is suggesting a truth commission. The problem is that the idea of a truth commission is really outside of our Constitution. It would be a sort of fourth branch of government. We really don't need that. The 9/11 Commission did not do a very good job.

You can't appoint people who hold conflicting opinions about something to a committee and then let them decide what the truth is.

In our system of law, we assume that we can determine the truth only when we bring out all facts (within the limits of due process and respect for human rights), allow proponents for opposing or different points of view to present the facts that they believe prove their case and then allow as neutral or objective a trier of fact (jury or judge) to decide what is true.

Truth commissions tend to put on show trials. With the 9/11 Commission, for example, as I understand it, evidence was presented by a sort of committee that was directed by an individual. The evidence should be presented by different people and reflect different interpretations of the facts.

Truth commissions have failed in the past -- Remember the Warren Commission? It left many unanswered questions. Many, many people do not trust the results. Over and over, these commissions just whitewash the truth.

2. She was sitting in for Randi last week and we found her program & guests to be interesting
I'm no fan of Charlie Daniels, but she has him on nannering about condoms, STD's and the like in the stim and, typically, not understanding the relationship to health & health care costs, etc, and some other people Randi would likely not have on. She was engaging, and it played as refreshing imo

3. she used to be on right-wing wls am chicago on sunday afternoon.
with her partner ski anderson, they had the only liberal talk show on the station. they would talk to anyone that was polite and give even the idiots a chance to speak. they were very good at letting people expose their weakness and never ridiculed them. she ran for senate here in illinios so they cancelled the show.

she has been a guest on cnn a few times and ran for the house in her home state of michigan. she`s a good radio host and it`s to bad she cannot get a regular gig somewhere.
