Is there any truth to this? re: Obama and unions- |
|
.... denounced Executive Order 13502, signed by President Obama Feb. 6, which allows federal agencies to require the use of union-only project labor agreements (PLA) on federal and federally funded construction projects over $25 million. The order also repeals Executive Order 13202 which prohibited federal agencies and recipients of federal funding from requiring contractors to sign PLAs.."
I don't recall hearing or reading anything that would require union only workers on these bids-

1. I don't think it REQUIRES union labor, but it revokes the EOs that favored non-union labor. nt |

Basically the backstory as I understand it is that Bush signed EOs which made it impossible for government agencies to specify union labor for contracts, and generally discouraged government work going to unions. Obama repealed it so that agencies can once again choose union labor if they want.
