so Peanut Corp went bancrupt, on a Friday no less
of course they were gonna be the upstanding corporation and stand behind their products, until they lawyered up and just quit. Guess that's one way of not being liable for squat.

1. They probably don't have the resources to carry that kind of burden.
That kind of thing pretty much drives any but the largest companies out of business.

2. I'm guessing they are preparing to be sued.
The CEO took the Fifth in front of the Congress this week.

It looks like they may have knowingly distributed contaminated product that killed and sickened a lot of people.

That would make them liable for millions of dollars.
