Repubs are "screwing the pooch"...even more
---

The way I see it.
Since they didn't vote for it they now have to hope the Recovery and Reinvest Act turns out a failure if they are to have a snowball's chance in 2010.
Rooting for failure is their new "plan".

They've painted themselves into a corner.
They have rolled the dice.
Even a mild improvement in the economic/job markets spell trouble in 2010 for the Republican Party.

4. They may be right.
But thanks to this passing there's now a good chance that things wont be worst. And can be recoverable in the future. In short it may stop the bleeding.

6. Slanted & Spun
The GOP will obviously state that the economy began to recover in spite of the Act, will laud big business, credit the tax cuts that the Shrub implemented for the turnaround, and press even harder to make them permanent before they expire in 2011. They will NEVER give Democrats credit for anything positive that might happen to the economy.

They want to push for bigger tax cuts and increased defense spending in order to force the government to drastically cut or preferably eliminate federal spending for what they hate the most, which is social support programs for the poor, aged, and infirm. Social and economic Darwinism, survival of the most fittest and fortunate.

7. They're Clueless...
Last night I heard Jonathan Alter speaking with Ron Reagan and brought up a great point. The GOOP is so radicalized now, they are oblivious to the 35-40% of the country that are Democrats and another 30% who are independents (many were repugnicans). President Obama won a huge victory with this middle group. His reaching out looked like a genuine effort at fulfilling his "post-partisan" campaign promise and its clear who was to blame why this didn't happen.

His main point was that the GOOP now is fighting to hold onto its own 30%. Many who voted against the stimulus did so for fear of being "primaried" in 2010...thus the choice was their own political and economic hide or those of their constituents. You can see who won.

IMHO, their obstructionism is helping President Obama as Gingrich's stupid antics when he became speaker in '95 turned Clinton's fate around and gave him a second term. Perceptions matter...no matter how hard the corporate media tried to spin it otherwise, the nation saw a very thoughtful and open process and apporved. More important, they saw a REAL President at work...trying to put country first ahead of party or "ideology". The wingnuts are choking to death on that one.

The repugnican party remains in full denial mode. Their lack of being able to accept responsibility and blame others used to work, now it's alienating more and more people.

Cheers...

8. No problem for Republicans
Look at the aversion to raising taxes. Not raising taxes is a vote for the Republicans. They have a lot of votes. In the course of human events since there have been people, there has always been classes. Although one group has been despised, maligned, complained about they always have the power and the money.
