For me, the greatest athlete in in the world EVER is Lance Armstrong. He is bigger in my mind than Ruth, Orr, Unitas, & Jordan combined x 100

My brother has ridden with him and knows him fairly well. I have read all his books.

His feats in cycling has only been overshadowed by his fight against Cancer.

In this video before the Tour Of California he takes apart a detractor who has written foul things about him of late.

Go Lance!

1. I WANT to like Lance Armstrong, he's done a lot
But I keep remembering this:

"President George W. Bush and Armstrong, right, take a ride on the president’s ranch in Crawford, Texas, August 20, 2005."

2. Yep, that is an unforgettable image

Biking through the flowers with shithead at the height of the Iraq debacle.

4. There is that....and then, there's the fact that he dumped the wife who
stood by him during his cancer treatments...and then he dumped his girlfriend when SHE got cancer.

My impression: selfish.

Maybe that's a false impression, but when I hear "Lance Armstrong" that's what I think. I just don't care about him.

He's rich. I'll save my "concern" for someone who could use whatever lousy good thoughts I can send their way.

6. I heard Cheryl Crow interviewed
and she didn't say he had dumped her. I got the impression SHE dumped HIM.

9. Not only are you wrong about his wife, you are wrong about Cheryl Crow
He's a complete ass but not for the reasons you are sliming him for.....

12. Well, that's why I put "Maybe that's a false impression" right smack dab in my remarks about him.
That's what "emanates" from the guy.

It's an "impression" I have of him.

Right or wrong doesn't enter into it--it suggests, perhaps, that he needs a new publicist.

10. No, they had already broken up
when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I'm no fan of his, since I regard him as a GOPig suckup what with his little ride with Chimpy Fucknuts, but this is a rap he doesn't deserve.

I remember reading an interview with Crow saying he'd called her and had been very supportive.

So, he's not that bad. But, to me, he's nothing.

It's raining cats and dogs, but I'm going to try to get photos anyway.

8. There's also the issue of him crossing picket lines to do a commercial
during an actors' strike that was hurting a lot of average-Joe actors who are not rich.

People don't get a free pass from me on their behavior just because they had cancer.

11. My ex wife...
..was treated for breast cancer at a clinic in Plano where he was treated.

The people at the clinic don't think much of him. Go figure.

13. I agree he's a great athlete....but something about Armstrong bugs me.
Sorry, but I've never bought his steroids story....and I think he's been given the benefit of the doubt a lot of other athletes haven't.
His story's a great, admirable one, but I think there's a dark side......

15. I never bought the steroids story either.
There is something about him I have never liked.

That said, he sure didn't deserve that comment from the reporter.

16. I get my knowledge admittedly second hand.
But it's from my brother who knows more about the sport and of lance than most people ever will.

He claims Lance has been clean. If you have ever read his books (Lance's) you would think the same.

I believe my brother.

17. One time I read..
.. that he got to take testosterone supplements because he lost a testicle.

I'm sure that can't be true, and it if is it's cheating since the human body will produce the same amount of testosterone with one testicle as it does with two.

He's a steroid-sucking POS, but his myth and press backing carried him through like Reagan on a bike.

20. And your proof?
Not liking him because he took a bike ride with chimpy isn't proof of doping. He has always tested clean. If you knew how intensely the French hounded him for random testing during his TOUR wins your statement would sound uneducated at best.
