The Repugs are drawing up in a tight little knot of orthodoxy, desperately trying, and failing, to block The Democrats' moves to save the economy, ready to dismember any of their group who shows evidence of rational thought.

Likewise the Catholic Church. Beaten and battered by the child-molesting scandals, deserted in droves by users of contraception, unable to recruit new priests, they draw themselves up into a tight little knot, reassimilate the Nazi-lovers, drive away the moderates, pucker up their little rectums, and will no doubt soon rediscover the joys of a new inquisition.

The Republicans and the Romans should get along well, what with their common revulsion toward gays and abortion, and their enjoyment of the simple pleasures in life such as torturing heretics.

I guess both groups figure that they'll be more difficult to flush down the big bowl of history if they bind themselves up in a hard little knot.

Really, I think right now is when they are most dangerous.
