2. Denny Crane surpasses Kirk...okay maybe not |
|
Great show. The funny part is that it was "The Practice" a perennial Emmy nominee and they scrapped the whole thing and re-did it as Boston Legal
A long run for some really creative minds

3. Generally a very amusing good show. But, I saw an episode where they gave |
|
horrible false information about morphine in people who are dying and as a hospice nurse I got reallllllllly pissed off. They implied that morphine drips were for suicide in people with end stage disease.

Don't forget that. It's not there to "(give) ... information" that is factual. That's why it's called "fiction." If anyone is taking their cues from TV shows that are designed to entertain and not to impart specific information, they're watching it all wrong.

6. It's fiction. But, you don't have to deal with people telling you "I don't want to give my |
|
my morphine, I hear it will kill her". It's horrible. These writers need to be educated. It's not the only show that passes on bad info.

7. No, that's not what's called for |

People need to be educated that you don't get factual information from shows that are entertainment. I write fiction for a living, and I've written for TV. We make things believable, but there is no duty to be accurate or correct. It's made-up, and if people want to know more about how morphine is used, then they should go do their own research.
If you need to educate people, then you need to educate people. That's not, though, the job of writers. That's the job of educators, and writers are, first and foremost, entertainers.

We get "Boston Legal" on WGN out of Chicago on the weekends, and, on weeknights, the ION channel carries at least one episode almost every night. On Tuesday nights, I think, they show three hours of "Boston Legal," which is, for me, a trip to heaven.
It's brilliant, and what's even better is that, in reruns, it's even better.

8. We came kinda late to the party |
|
We watched the final episode and laughed our asses off. So we bought the first three seasons on DVD and watch any episodes we can find on cable.
So now my TV experience includes Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Mythbusters and Boston Legal.
