..... chooses to nationalize the banks.

It is the right thing to do. It is incredibly bold. It is hardly without a great deal of risk.

It cause everyone to gasp.

And when it succeeds he will inherit the mantle of FDR in a way even bigger than he has already assumed the mantle of JFK.

Two really good outcomes for the rest of will follow that:

1 - The repubican party will be destroyed

2 - there will be a Democrat in the white house, the Speaker's chair, and the Senate leader;s seat until well after I am dead and gone.

Both 1 and 2 would go miles to make me a contented old man.

edit to fix horrible title typo

1. They sort of did it with the first bail-out.

But do you think there'll be a full on nationalization, and if so what gives you that impression?

8. I think the whole financial sector is rotten to the core.
I hoped the TARP funding would have been the proper stimulus to unwind the structural problems and restart them. I now think they are beyond help. If we want to salvage our economic future, we need to nationalize the backing system, isolate the toxic wastes, break up the bank monopolies, and separate lending banks from their investing subsidiaries. Wall Street's greedlust has threatened the economic wellbeing of this country. I see no other way to clean it up other than nationalizing the banks until we can clean out the current management and get the entire problem exposed and fixed. Obviously, reform and oversight of banking has to be re-regulated.

4. Get ready to be happy -
I think he's gonna do it.

I have thought that for a while, and there was something about his "... not a sap" comment that made me sit up and rub my eyes. I think OUR PRESIDENT OBAMA is tougher and smarter than even we, his biggest fans, suspect.

And this will, of course, drive the GOPigs even deeper into their already-very-deep holes.

If he does this (I resist the urge to capitalize the "h" in "he"), pass the shovels.

7. CW in the blogosphere is that the only real question is...
how much money will they light on fire before they get around to nationalizing (some of) them?

11. Oh, hell, they've already done their looting......
Remember? They used to be called "bonuses," but now they're called something like "retention awards," or some such bullshit.

They're thieves. They've been thieves for a long time because the GOPigs made this a safe world for pigs.

And now, the Big Bad Pigkiller has come to town.

That's one odd way to think of OUR PRESIDENT OBAMA, but that's what he has to be.

They'll do that. I'm sure they'll do that, because I love my party but there is something in them that occasionally makes them dumber than a box of dirt.

9. Do the big 6, and the others will crap themselves to behave
They need to go after the big arrogant bastards. The smaller ones will then behave themselves so wellm they won't have to be nationalized.

16. Any 'nationalizing' will likely be temporary
Then the newly 'healthy' banks will be sold back to private investors.

Just like the S&Ls.

22. 'Nationalize,' 'Socialism' seem to be the new Orwellian buzzwords
During the campaign I  at the M$M attempts to paint Obama as a socialist.

Now 'nationalize' is getting skewed as a concept.

:wtf:

Pretty clever, actually.

23. The nationalization
of banks would most likely spark outrage amongst the conservative leagues. Even if some repugs claim to agree with nationalizing banks they will most likely spring at the opportunity to harvest some outrage in their favor.

The complete governmental takeover of the Federal Reserve should be a priority to maintain any order within the financial institution.

24. A wee question.
How has Obama "assumed the mantle of JFK" ?

The things Obama should do and in his own right are a great deal more bold than either of the previous presidents you mention.
