Bush's policies and decisions of last 8years led to hundreds of thousands of deaths globally |

on that, most of us here are able to agree. So...why should those policies and decisions that led directly to the deaths of so many people (many more innocent victims than guilty ones) be ignored under the cover of bi-partisanship or pragmatism or state secrets?
Imagine a decision to block the German people from knowing what was done in their name.
Imagine a decision to block South Africans from knowing what was done in their name.
American people are consistently disrespected decade after decade, administration after administration when it is determined they cannot handle information that will make them uncomfortable with their country's government and its past decisions.
Imagine how quickly and easily this country COULD UNITE to move forward in harmony if all of us were hearing and seeing the FACTS behind the truth of what some of our past leaders have done...in OUR name.

1. Your faith in the inherent "goodness" of the American people is touching, and misplaced. |
|
We can blame the media for foisting repuke propaganda on the population, but the ignorant and hateful ate it up without question. The fact that so many (of us) were able to learn the truth and express our opinion that the US was wrong justifies the validity of blaming the TENS OF MILLIONS of our fellow-citizens for going along with the disastrous repuke agenda. They were willing co-conspirators and should not be let off the hook. Expecting them to change their views is naive and unrealistic.

2. My point is that MOST of the American people have not had access to the truth - even many here at DU |

have not accessed reports and testimony in the nation's archives that would change their views of the last 40 years.
If ALL the people had to deal with the same set of facts, instead of the SPIN offered by lawmakers and their mouthpieces, then surely the GREAT MAJORITY of citizens would be able to adjust and move on for the betterment of our democracy.
70% of the nation now sees that Bush2 was no good for a variety of reasons - the number would grow if they actually knew more details. And Reagan and Bush1's legacies would certainly take a well-earned beating for a change, too. 100%....of course not....but, a solid majority....yes.

3. That's like saying the stimulus bill only cost pennies.... |
|
77,500,000,000,000 of them.
Even the worst estimates out there don't address the full scope of the death and destruction of the maladministration.

4. hundreds of thousands is what most of DU would agree to....my personal take is that BushInc caused |
|
millions of deaths around the world during their massive crime wave of the last 4 decades.
Unfortunately, there are still too many Dems, even here at DU, who downplay the scope of the illegal operations BushInc set up over the decades.
