Hey, Alex Rodriguez, you suck even more: Now he's blaming his cousin for his steroid use
I know this story's been in GD; here's the latest update. Read it and laugh.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090217/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bba_yankees_rodriguez

>Alex Rodriguez answered one big question Tuesday, admitting his cousin repeatedly injected him with a substance from the Dominican Republic. The New York Yankees star blamed his 2003 positive test on being young and naive. "I knew we weren't taking Tic Tacs," said Rodriguez, who was joined at the head table by Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and manager Joe Girardi.

Before a horde of reporters at Steinbrenner Field, Rodriguez began by reading a statement in which he again apologized for taking banned drugs from 2001-2003 while he was with the Texas Rangers.

Then Rodriguez turned to his teammates and searched for the right words.

It took 37 seconds — a break in which he looked side to side, blinked several times, bit his lip and took a sip of water — then finally looked up and faced Derek Jeter & Co.

"Thank you."<

Yes, PayRod, you're a Tool McTool. What an ass.

2. It's everyone else's fault!
If someone told them to jump off a cliff, would they do it? Then again, it seems Pay-Rod can't make decisions on his own, so we'd best not be answering that.

26. Exactly. I always told my son to smile (at least to himself) whenever someone says
"It's someone else's fault."

18. Lyle Alzado finally came clean
Right before his life ended at (as I recall) age 47 from steroid abuse. He was on the cover of Sports Illustrated, looking pretty wasted and nothing like the fearsome defensive lineman who had terrorized quarterbacks and running backs alike throughout his career with the Broncos and the Raiders. The simple caption for him was "I Lied."

5. It's that willy-nilly thinking!
Poor Pay-Rod. He's a millionaire, but he can't reason his way out of a paper bag. He's also not man enough to deal with the ramifications of his actions.

Then again, I'm sure his ex-wife might have lots to say about the latter.

And it's WORSE when I see someone close to me get a needle. My brain starts fighting over what to do first - puke or pass out. When my kid gets a shot they have to give both of us OJ afterwards.

I can just see A-Rod the doofus sitting there *uuhhrr -- whatchoo sticking me with, bro?* Uhh huhhh, suuuuuurre he did.... :eyes:

10. I'm tired of the steroid shit.
Hell, if they want to fuck up their bodies and shrink their packages, let them use 'em. I don't fucking care. That being said, I'm not much of a sports fan, so I guess I have no business weighing in on this issue.

22. Would you let your cousin inject you with any substance at all?
And no, we're not talking something life-sustaining, such as insulin.

>Rodriguez said his cousin introduced him to "boli," saying it was an over-the-counter substance in the Dominican. While with Texas, he said his cousin injected him about twice a month during six-month cycles to get an energy boost.<

Oh, he's blaming his "cousin". And his "loosey-goosey thinking". And the drop in the Dow. If there's one thing we can all count on from Rodriguez, he'll blame anyone else but himself.

28. You would think that a professional athlete making millions using his body
would be extremely careful about what got injected into that body. Heck I wouldn't take any shots without knowing what was in them and I'm about as far from making millions with this body as you can get. :)

If my cousin came and told me all the best players from the DR were taking this stuff. If I looked at their numbers and their salaries. I would start taking it too. If I had a high school education and had no clue as to the harmful side effects of the drug. I would certainly take the stuff too. A-rod doesn't live in a vacuum a large number of players were doing this. Ball players in that era were taking incredible amounts of substances both legal and illegal. It would not seem that unusual if you lived in that locker room environment.

30. Imagine how the other thousands of athletes can resist this temptation
In the meantime, Pay-Rod is not the sharpest pencil in the pack to begin with.

This all reminds me of that lame cliche all our parents said to us: "If he was jumping off a cliff, would you do it, too?"

21. Reading is fundamental
>Rodriguez said his cousin introduced him to "boli," saying it was an over-the-counter substance in the Dominican. While with Texas, he said his cousin injected him about twice a month during six-month cycles to get an energy boost.<

In the future, you might want to do your own research.

I might also mention that Rodriguez is even more of a shit to open a "cousin" (who's not in the public eye) to possible prosecution. Then again, there is evidently some question that the "cousin" exists at all.

the part half way down where "a-rod adresses the dynamic" by accepting the blame and not blaming his cousin?

" I'm here front and center to take the blame"

23. Heard the press conference. He didn't blame his cousin for his actions.
Edited on Wed Feb-18-09 10:53 AM by jmg257
Did say his cousin got them, imported them, and did the injections for him though.

A-Rod blamed his own youth, his own ignorance, the pressure he himself felt, the atomosphere around the team and the league, etc.
He also showed he certainly isn't some MENSA member.

He did it. He admitted it. He explained why HE did it. He explained what he took. He explained how he did it. He explained where he got it. He explained why he stopped. He stated he is not using them now. He takes test often enough to confirm that.

HE took responsibility, and he apologized.

Good for him. Now PLAY BALL!!!
