American Media Ask if A-Roid’s Cousin Exists
Right now, someone on ABCNNBCBSFixedNoiseNutwork is asking about Yankee Superstar Alex Rodriguez. Seriously, flipping through the channels and it’s one guy or gal after another telling us the sordid steroids story.

Trying to make the subject go away, I guess he thought, Rodriguez today had a press conference in which he managed to make matters worse for himself by invent—er, bringing into the story a “cousin” in the Dominican Republic as the person who introduced him to an OTC injectable. I kid you not, that's what I got out of the coverage. ESPN added fuel to the fire quoting a doubtful pitcher and manager about the guy. They also quoted a Mr. Hicks, the owner of the Texas Rangers, a team once fractionally-owned by the war criminal George Walker Bush.

What I thought I'd see more of -- what the TV should be talking about -- is the historic import of Barrack Obama signing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Brings me to one point: America’s media has done its damndest to get people to think about sports and sports stars rather than about something important like somebody trying to do something about America’s problems.

Gee. It seemed like only yesterday when the Press Corpse worked the opposite side of the street. Four Sports Scandals That Gave Bush Cover

Now, I know that there are thousands of articles in the GOOGLE and so on about ARRA and A-Rod. Ask yourself in the coming days, what are people where you go talking about?

Related in a monolithic state propaganda organs sort of way, with all this coverage, is what most people will miss. For too many Americans and people around the world, Corporate McPravda is covering-up (or missing, take your choice) the most important story:

U.S. Intel Chief's Shocking Warning: Wall Street's Disaster Has Spawned Our Greatest Terrorist Threat

Now that I think about it, I can see why they'd want to bury that one. The warmongering traitor monkey and his cronies were so busy stealing, directing contracts to their friends through fiscal, foreign and domestic policies, they didn't notice that crashing the economy is what Osama bin Laden said would happen ( Bin Laden Used a Similar Strategy to Decimate American Capitalism as Reagan Used to Hasten End of Soviet Communism ) on account of Bush lying America into war.

I miss the free press, the one the Constitution talks about.
Thank Goodness for DU, DUers and all the Good Folk online.

1. Guess what kind of "guests" get air time on NPR? Doug Feith, John Bolton.

2. There's big money to be made in war time.
That's why those fellows are so well-paid for drumming up wars.

You, Brother Bob, drum up peace.

3. With CNN they don't even bother to cover the wars
They wait for the 'I-Reporters' to send in their pictures.

CNN is without a doubt the laziest ahem news organization on the planet.
At least Shill O'Lielly's producer goes out to the field to harass people.
If he worked for CNN, he'd be encouraging an I-Reporter to do it instead

4. CNN and Army Psyops
Absolutely right, rpannier. They are cheap when it comes to carrying out their responsibilities.

They also have a darker side: Remember the interns who also happened to be active-duty Army psyops specialists?

CNN AND PSYOPS

By Alexander Cockburn

Military personnel from the Fourth Psychological Operations Group based at Fort Bragg, in North Carolina, have until recently been working in CNN's hq in Atlanta.

CNN is up in arms about our report in the last issue of CounterPunch concerning the findings of the Dutch journalist, Abe de Vries about the presence of US Army personnel at CNN, owned by Time-Warner. We cited an article by de Vries which appeared on February 21 in the reputable Dutch daily newspaper Trouw, originally translated into English and placed on the web by Emperor's Clothes. De Vries reported that a handful of military personnel from the Third Psychological Operations Battalion, part of the airmobile Fourth Psychological Operations Group based at Fort Bragg, in North Carolina, had worked in CNN's hq in Atlanta.

De Vries quoted Major Thomas Collins of the US Army Information Service as having confirmed the presence of these Army psy-ops experts at CNN, saying, "Psy-ops personnel, soldiers and officers, have been working in CNN's headquarters in Atlanta through our program, 'Training with Industry'. They worked as regular employees of CNN. Conceivably, they would have worked on stories during the Kosovo war. They helped in the production of news."

This particular CounterPunch story was the topic of my regular weekly broadcast to AM Live, a program of the South Africa Broadcasting Company in Johannesburg. Among the audience of this broadcast was CNN's bureau in South Africa which lost no time in relaying news of it to CNN hq in Atlanta, and I duly received an angry phone call from Eason Jordan who identified himself as CNN's president of newsgathering and international networks.

Jordan was full of indignation that I had somehow compromised the reputation of CNN. But in the course of our conversation it turned out that yes, CNN had hosted a total of five interns from US army psy-ops, two in television, two in radio and one in satellite operations. Jordan said the program had only recently terminated, I would guess at about the time CNN's higher management read Abe de Vries's stories.

The concept of a free press was so critical to the nation's future, the Founders made it the only business mentioned by name in the Constitution -- First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Without a free press, We the People would make decisions based on falsehood, rumor, and propaganda. For instance, We might even be lied into a war. Oops.

8. But, it's about the children........
Sorry. Just had to whip that lame ass statement out.

Actually, I am worried about the children. But in regards to having actual healthcare, education and opportunity.

I had a chuckle about this whole thing yesterday. Not "ha ha, this is funny" chuckle, but "we keep reaching new lows" chuckle of amazement.

If people get that hung up on, and broken by, some asshole hitting a ball with a stick, then they are in for a rough and dissapointing life.

I've been thinking for a long while that the MSM is complicit with everything the Right wing terrorists are doing to this country. They lack the intellect and integrity to say anything that is close to the truth.

They are more interested in making diversionary noise.
