Poll question: Do you think that Republicans and business propagandists are waging class warfare against the poor?
Edited on Wed Feb-18-09 12:05 PM by ck4829
Republicans, conservatives, and the people who are really responsible for our current crisis have been out in force blaming the current economic crisis on the poor.

http://neftriplecrunch.wordpress.com/2008/10/29/blaming-the-poor-while-bailing-out-the-banks/
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/09/30/conservative-poor-blame/

They wish to scapegoat the poor for their bad decisions, they want to avoid accountability by blaming the people who will be most hurt by this crisis, and they seek to avoid reform by trying to convince the world that it is the fault of the least powerful among us for the crisis that we are currently.

This is class warfare, plain and simple. And taking away bonuses of ultra-wealthy executives getting bailouts or raising taxes on people who were going to put their wealth in an offshore tax shelter don't even compare to what they are trying to do.

What do you think?

1. Of course they are...
and your poll is about 29 years too late. Reagen started it, Bush II finished it...

2. I voted yes.
Though I think it might be more accurate to say the 2%ers are waging war against the remaining 98%. I think their "war" is more that they are no more awareness of our existence than many of us are aware of an anthill outside our house.

4. It's the media, stupid
As long as the media are mega-corporations controlled by wealthy stockholders, select boardmembers and their lobbyists and bought-off politicians, not to mention the advertising business, it will be used as a bludgeon against anybody who wants to have more equitable distribution of wealth and a higher standard of living for ordinary Americans.
